Ordering & Pricing
What is the minimum order quantity for used gaylord boxes?
Our standard minimum order is one pallet, which typically contains 40 to 60 folded gaylord boxes depending on the size and wall thickness. For local pickup orders, we can accommodate smaller quantities on a case-by-case basis. For truckload orders (500+ boxes), we offer volume pricing discounts that can reduce your per-box cost by 15 to 25 percent. Contact our sales team for a custom quote based on your specific quantity needs.
How is pricing determined for used gaylord boxes?
Pricing depends on four primary factors: box size (dimensions), wall type (single, double, or triple wall), condition grade (A through D), and order quantity. Grade A boxes in pristine condition command the highest price, while Grade D economy boxes are the most affordable. Current market conditions for corrugated material also influence pricing. We provide free, no-obligation quotes that are typically valid for 7 business days. Prices include standard inspection and sorting but do not include shipping unless specified.
What are the typical lead times for orders?
For standard sizes and grades that we have in stock at our facilities, lead times are typically 3 to 5 business days from order confirmation. Popular sizes like 48x40x36 in Grade B are almost always available for immediate fulfillment. Custom sizes, large-quantity orders (1,000+ boxes), or specific grade requirements may require 7 to 14 business days. Rush delivery is available in most markets for an additional fee. We will provide an estimated delivery date at the time of your quote.
Do you offer volume discounts?
Yes. We offer tiered volume pricing that reduces the per-box cost as your order quantity increases. Typical discount tiers start at 100 boxes, 500 boxes, and 1,000+ boxes. Customers who establish recurring purchase agreements receive additional preferred pricing. We also offer annual contract pricing for businesses with consistent monthly demand. Contact our sales team to discuss the pricing structure that best fits your volume and frequency.
Products & Quality
What do the grade ratings (A, B, C, D) mean?
Our grading system classifies used boxes by their overall condition. Grade A boxes are like new with minimal cosmetic wear, used only once or twice, with no structural issues. Grade B boxes show moderate cosmetic wear such as light scuffing or previous printing but are structurally sound. Grade C boxes have significant cosmetic wear including tape residue and visible printing but remain structurally functional. Grade D boxes show heavy wear and are suitable only for lightweight contents or single-use applications. Every box is inspected by trained personnel before grading.
What sizes of gaylord boxes do you carry?
We carry all standard gaylord box sizes including the most common 48x40x36, 48x40x48, 48x40x24, 48x45x36, 58x42x45, 36x36x36, 48x36x36, 48x40x60, 24x20x24, and 48x40x30 (all dimensions in inches, L x W x H). Custom sizes can be sourced on request. Our most frequently ordered size is the standard 48x40x36 which fits a standard GMA pallet. Visit our size guide page for detailed specifications on every size we offer.
What is the difference between single, double, and triple wall boxes?
The number of corrugated walls determines the box's strength and weight capacity. Single-wall boxes have one fluted layer and handle up to about 800 pounds. They are rarely used in gaylord applications. Double-wall boxes have two fluted layers (BC Flute) and handle 800 to 2,000 pounds. This is the standard construction for most gaylord boxes. Triple-wall boxes have three fluted layers and handle 2,000 to 4,000+ pounds. These are used for heavy industrial applications. Wall thickness increases with each additional layer: roughly 1/8 inch for single, 1/4 inch for double, and 3/8 to 1/2 inch for triple.
Can I get food-grade gaylord boxes?
New gaylord boxes can be supplied with food-grade certification, meaning they are manufactured from virgin materials that comply with FDA regulations for direct and indirect food contact. Used gaylord boxes generally cannot be certified as food-grade because their previous contents and handling history cannot be verified. However, used boxes can be used for food applications when combined with food-grade polyethylene liners that create a barrier between the food and the box surface. We stock food-grade box liners in all standard gaylord sizes.

Shipping & Delivery
What areas do you deliver to?
We deliver to all 48 contiguous United States. Our five facilities are strategically located to provide efficient coverage: our main hub in the greater Chicago area serves the Midwest, with additional facilities covering the East Coast, West Coast, Southeast, and Southwest regions. Standard delivery is included in most orders over $500. For orders under $500 or deliveries to remote areas, shipping costs are quoted separately based on distance and quantity.
How are gaylord boxes shipped?
Gaylord boxes are typically shipped folded flat on pallets, which maximizes transportation efficiency. A standard semi-trailer can hold 800 to 1,200 folded gaylord boxes depending on the size and wall thickness. We ship via our own dedicated fleet for regional deliveries and partner with national LTL (Less Than Truckload) and FTL (Full Truckload) carriers for long-distance shipments. All shipments are secured with stretch wrap and corner protectors to prevent damage during transit.
Can I pick up orders directly from your facility?
Yes. Customer pickup is available at all five of our facilities during business hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time. We recommend scheduling pickup appointments at least 24 hours in advance so we can have your order staged and ready at the loading dock when you arrive. We can load your truck or trailer using our forklifts at no additional charge. Please bring a valid ID and your order confirmation number when picking up.
What happens if boxes arrive damaged during shipping?
Although damage during shipping is rare due to our careful packaging and palletizing procedures, we stand behind every shipment. If boxes arrive damaged, document the damage with photos and note it on the carrier's delivery receipt before signing. Contact our customer service team within 48 hours of delivery with photos and your order number. We will arrange a replacement shipment or issue a credit for the damaged units at no cost to you. Our damage claim rate is less than 1% of all shipments.
Sustainability & Environment
How does buying used gaylord boxes help the environment?
Every used gaylord box that gets reused instead of manufactured new saves approximately 46 gallons of water, prevents 17 pounds of CO2 emissions, and conserves enough energy to power an average home for 6 hours. Manufacturing new corrugated boxes requires harvesting trees, processing wood pulp, consuming large amounts of water and energy, and generating industrial emissions. By extending the life of existing boxes through reuse, you directly reduce demand for all of these resource-intensive processes. A single gaylord box can typically be reused 3 to 5 times before it needs to be recycled.
What certifications do you hold for environmental practices?
Our operations hold ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification, R2 Responsible Recycling certification, and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Chain of Custody certification. Two of our five facilities have achieved TRUE (Total Resource Use and Efficiency) Zero Waste certification, and the remaining three are on track for certification. We also maintain partnerships with the Sustainable Packaging Coalition and participate in the How2Recycle labeling program.
Do you provide environmental impact reports?
Yes. Every customer receives an annual environmental impact report that quantifies the specific environmental benefits of their box purchases and recycling activities with Eco Boxes. Reports include metrics for: number of boxes reused, tons of corrugated material diverted from landfills, gallons of water conserved, pounds of CO2 emissions prevented, kilowatt-hours of energy saved, and equivalent number of trees preserved. These reports are formatted for use in corporate sustainability reporting, ESG disclosures, and annual environmental impact statements.
What happens to boxes that are too damaged to reuse?
Boxes that have reached the end of their reusable life are recycled through our certified recycling program. They are broken down, de-taped, and baled at our facilities, then shipped to domestic paper mills where the corrugated fibers are pulped and reformed into new paper and packaging products. Corrugated cardboard fibers can be recycled 5 to 7 times before they become too short for further use. Our facilities achieve a 96% landfill diversion rate, meaning only 4% of incoming material ends up in a landfill, and we are working to reduce that further.
